Here at Rueffer Ranch we strive not only for the healthiest best tasting beef but also to regenerate valuable grazing lands.  Improving the ecosystem and soil biology is very important us!  We raise grass-fed beef cattle and carefully select for low-input genetic traits that are acclimated to our geographic location. Our program allows only ‘the best of the best’ animals to reproduce and remain in our closed herd.

Rueffer Ranch is dedicated to producing outstanding artisan grass-fed beef from humanely raised animals in the Texas Hill Country! Animal welfare is central to our herd management. We believe cattle must graze on pastures with a high ratio of acres per animal unit and be free from stress to produce the healthiest beef. Cattle are free from antibiotics, growth hormones, vaccinations, and parasite control; all natural PURE beef!

No-stress handling 100% of the time.

We are committed to regenerative agricultural practices and have been through Holistic Management International training. Rueffer Ranch is committed to improving our natural resources.

Please see our page “Heirloom Wheat Farm” to read more about our dedication to improving farmland.

Our product is unique because we harvest at around 600-800 pounds. This is the old-fashioned beef from yesteryear. The beef is dry-aged to perfection making it tender and flavorful. The perfect amount of beef for a family.

It is our goal to make you a very satisfied client so that we can be your personal rancher-for life! Knowing your farmer and eating local is so important.

I want to help you learn how to cook your beef so you’ll get the most enjoyment out of it.

Need help with the process of ordering a half or whole beef? How to fill out a cut sheet? Recipes? Using the whole animal? We are here to help you each step of the way.

Each week we create a new video on our YouTube channel “Texas Farmstead Living” featuring skills from yesteryear, homesteading, and many recipes. We have created a ‘Beef’ playlist just for you! Please subscribe to our channel so you won’t miss a thing.

 BENEFITS OF OUR MODEL:

*Mother and calf roam freely grazing.
*Calves are born in sync with nature giving them lots of green grass and favorable conditions
*Calves are not shipped long distances.
*Calves are milk-fed from their mothers and graze with her for supplementation.
*Since they are born in the spring the grass conditions are prime for great beef nutrition.
*Our ancestors always harvested “the fatted calf” which provided them with tender meat, bones, and organs. They did not have refrigeration and a calf was the right size for harvest.*The smaller animal has smaller cuts which are just right for a healthy meal.*There is no use of commodity crops or factory farming
*Beef is thoughtfully-sourced from ranchers who care about animal welfare and our environment.
*NO STRESS MANAGEMENT 100% OF THE TIME!
*Grasslands are holistically managed.
*Calves are from a closed tested herd.
*CALVES ARE NEVER VACCINATED, FREE FROM HORMONES, PESTICIDES, and ANTIBIOTICS.
*Calves are harvested locally.

We carefully select for low-input genetic traits that are acclimated to our geographic location. Our goal is a smaller-framed efficient cow that produces more pounds of beef per acre of land. Only select animals reproduce and remain in our closed herd. The breeds we raise are Jersey, Red Angus, Black Angus, and registered Hereford cattle.

We offer seed stock from our Jersey grass-fed genetic dairy cattle and registered Hereford cattle.

    A Healthy Herd

Our dairy and beef herd provide our family with home-grown and thoughtfully sourced milk and beef so we place high standards on bovine health.  We study research to ensure current understanding of bovine diseases, especially diseases that are known to be zoonotic.

Both dairy and beef cattle are closed and we raise all replacement females.  Our decision to quarantine our herd has come with many challenges such as wearing plastic gloves, covering shoes with plastic covers, and endless expensive testing.  We believe this has been a worthwhile endeavor to produce the healthiest beef and dairy.
